“Champion of Bulgaria 2009” is the team of Konstantin Mitev and Miroslav Gradinarov! Female Champion for 2009 is the duo Asya Dinova – Viktoria Yovcheva.
Exceptional final of this year’s season of the M-Tel Beach Masters: the undefeated in the last two years Nikolay Kolev and Neven Neshev lost against the team of Mitev – Gradinarov with result 0:2 (19;18). Tactical advices from the VIP area were given to Mitev and Gradinarov by the ex-captain of the National volleyball team Plamen Konstantinov. Beside the title the winners got prize money of the amount of 4 000 BGL.
The team from Varna Milen Stoyanov and Boris Yankov lost the semi-final against the Balkan Champions Konstantin Mitev and Miroslav Gradinarov in two sets (14;19) and so for the first time this season the final match was without their participation. But they ended the season with third-place medal by winning the Kurdzhali team Delcho Raev and Kiril Hadzhiev.
The first place by the women was taken by Evelina Cholakova and Sabina Swoboda. They got “wild card” for participating this tournament, but were competing out of the ranking for the national title. Because of this “Bulgarian Champions 2009” became Asya Dinova and Viktoria Yovcheva.
The Bulgarian Champions of 2008 Diana Malinova and Rusena Slancheva lost unexpected the semi-final match and with this the chance to double the title from the last season. They qualified at the third place after outplaying the thirteen years old Ofelia Malinov in tandem with her mother Kamelia Malinova.
The Bulgarian Championship 2009 took place in the period of 4th to 6th September in front of the National Palace of Culture in Sofia. This was the last fourth tournament, which closed this year’s M-Tel Beach Masters season.
